Optimize Your Office Space And Productivity With Ergonomic LCD Monitor Arms

by Jimmy Dunn
LCD Arms has revolutionized the world of monitor mounts through decades of research and testing, flawlessly combining sleek design and cutting-edge ergonomic innovation to conserve precious desk space and improve performance.

The basic LCD Arm consists of an arm of varying length, sometimes mounted to a pole, always mountable to a desk or wall. This arm has a VESA adapter plate at one end, designed to hold all VESA monitors (the vast majority of all monitors are VESA-compliant). Depending on the make and model, some arms will include mounts for a mouse and keyboard, or for multiple monitors. All of the mounts provide an impressive range of motion from a remarkably small footprint on your desk or floor.

Why Ergonomics?

For as long as most of us can remember, technology has been advancing at a stunning pace, and the results have been tangible: We have put men on the moon, can fit entire databases of music into our back pocket and have devices in our cars that make it so we never have to ask for directions again.

Unfortunately, the price of progress is often paid with bleary eyes, aching backs and carpal tunnel syndrome by those who interact with our technological devices.

Enter the concept of ergonomics - the adaptation of machine to man. Ergonomic products are designed to enhance the interface between technology and the human form. Ergonomics is the science of identifying the physical points of stress, and then minimize or eliminate that stress through superior design.

Why LCD Arms? Space Management

Monitor arms as a whole find their greatest value in space management. From classrooms to dental offices, from the stock market to a home office, space is at a premium and the effective management of that space is essential. An LCD arm or pole mount provides the full use of a monitor at the most comfortable viewing angle while virtually eliminating the monitor's footprint on the desk. The arm itself folds down to occupy a space as small as 3 inches wide in some cases.

Versatility

A typical LCD Arm consists of up to three joints, each one boasting a full 360-degrees of rotation. The arm can be adjusted up and down, left and right, and front and back, with additional articulation and rotation available at the joint between monitor and arm. Equally versatile, the FLEXmount system provides six mounting options, including desktop and grommet clamp, thru-desk bolt, and wall mounting.

Ease of Use

Most monitor arms use numerous clamps, bolts and knobs for adjustment, leaving the user in constant danger of monitor drooping, a condition caused by chronically loose joints. LCD Arms monitor arms, however, employ an elegantly simple system powered by a pressurized spring that floats the monitor above the desktop. Repositioning is literally as simple as the touch of a single finger, no doohickeys to tighten or training needed.

Multiple Applications

LCD Arms touts the most extensive and comprehensive collection of monitor arms solutions on the planet. Their award-winning EVO line includes adapters that will hold laptops and tablet PCs along with monitor arms. And keep your eye out for the Cricket, an adjustable portable laptop stand that folds up to fit into a bag or pocket, available sometime in Fall of 07.

Apple users, don't feel left out. LCD Arms iLift and CinemaLift designs are the only line of monitor arms specifically designed for Apple iMac and Cinema Displays.

Health care professionals love LCD Arms because of the intuitive use, maximum flexibility, and durability. It's incredibly handy for a dentist to be able to simply pull a monitor from the wall to the chair to show her patient their x-rays, and effective use of space is crucial in hospital environments.

Apple users, don't feel left out. LCD Arms iLift and CinemaLift designs constitute the only lines of monitor arms specifically designed for Apple iMac and Cinema Displays.

If you haven't read about your work situation here yet, contact one of LCD Arms' vendors. They'll work with you to customize a solution for your home, office, or school.

Basically, whoever you are, wherever your computer is, your work (or the work of those you manage) will benefit from the strategic employment of an LCD Arms monitor. And if you're still not sure that an LCD monitor arm is best for your situation, give one a try. You won't ever switch back.

Digital Camera Accessories Cover the Bases

by ilaviny
With many professional portrait studios opting for them as the shooting weapon of choice and more and more homes going completely electronic, there`s no denying that digital cameras are here to stay. As technology continues to advance and pictures taken on them prove incredible, the amount of digital camera accessories to make shots even better is really on the rise. Where only a few extras used to be available, digital camera fans are finding a whole host of choices these day.

There are two major categories of digital camera accessories on the market the must haves and the would love to haves. Let`s look at both.

Must Haves

. Extra memory. With digital cameras offering such ease in shooting, those who want to take high-quality pictures find themselves tearing through memory cards rather quickly. These digital camera accessories are generally pretty affordable and are more than easy to carry. Typically the size of postage stamp or just slightly larger, extra memory cards can be used by anyone from the professional shooter to the amateur on vacation.

. Spare batteries. It might be hard to consider these as an accessory, but the fact is many who own these cameras do. While most digital camera batteries can last a long time, when they run out in the middle of a vacation or a particularly fun shoot, it can be really irritating. Having a spare set can really come in handy. It`s best to consider rechargeable spares to save on replacement costs down the road.

. Weatherproof camera bag. When it comes to digital camera accessories, this one is a must have for anyone that intends to take their camera outside, ever. Providing protection from bad weather and drops alike, these accessories aren`t very expensive either and they can help store those extra batteries and memory cards, too.

Love To Haves

. Lighting mechanisms. This particular class of digital camera accessory might almost fit into the must have list. While most digital cameras take very good pictures, there onboard flashes tend to leave a lot to be desired. There are all kind of lighting mechanisms that are available that can remedy this. Some are designed to work with specific cameras and others are standalones that can assist in any photography setting. These are great for anyone who wants to take spectacular shots to consider.

. Tripods. When it comes to digital camera accessories, this is one any serious shooter might want to consider. These help take away the shake that`s involved in some settings and can really help create spectacular images.

. Extra lenses. Not all cameras will accept these digital camera accessories, but those that do can really benefit from them. Providing a way to really turn a digital into an all-purpose camera, these add ons should be considered by those who can use them.

When it comes to digital camera accessories, the options are becoming amazing. The above is just a small list of those available. While not everyone will need many digital camera accessories to take the pictures they want, it`s nice to know options are out there

Choosing The Right Monitor - A Buyers Guide

by Harry Love
There are several considerations when you plan to purchase a monitor.

Monitor sizes are the dominant feature. Larger monitors are more expensive. Monitors are measured diagonally, though the length isn't exactly the correct. It is almost always a little shorter in real life than the length shown.

Resolution is the number of pixels displayed. This is normally shown as the number of pixels wide and the number of pixels tall the screen displays. The larger the numbers, the sharper the image displayed on the screen. Normally, a monitor will be able to display a range of resolutions with more pixels resulting in a slower refresh rate.

Another big concern is LCD or CRT. LCD refers to Liquid Crystal Displays, and these are flat screens. CRT refers to Cathode Ray Tubes, and these are the classic television shaped monitors. LCD monitors produce less eyestrain typically, and have no distortion since every pixel is the same size and shape. This isn't true for the CRT monitor, due to the shape of the glass screen. LCD monitors are flat, and thus take less space on the desktop. They last longer and consume less electricity. CRT monitors are able to change display resolutions over a larger range and still keep a sharp image. CRT monitors can also reach higher refresh rates with potentially noticeable results for games and multimedia. If the computer will be the only light in the room, the LCD should be better, while the CRT will work well when more than one person is likely to be viewing the screen at once.

For LCD monitors, the contrast ratio is a measure of how easy it is to tell colours apart. Higher is better. Luminescence is a measure of the light given off by the screen. For most uses 200-250 nits is ideal, but for those who watch movies or television on their monitors, 500 nits is better. Response time is a measure of how quickly the monitors are able to refresh their image. 16 milliseconds is normally sufficient, but a gaming machine should be more like 5 ms. Typically an LCD monitor will be harder to view from an angle, and this is measured in degrees from directly in front of the screen. Some come with glass screens to protect the LCD display from damage. TFT is Thin Film Transistor and uses transistor technology to improve the image. These TFT displays are a type of LCD display.

For CRT monitors, refresh rate is one of the most important considerations. This is the rate at which the screen redraws the images. Rates below 70 MHz often cause eyestrain. 75 MHz is the industry standard to avoid this issue. Dot pitch is a measure of the spaces between the pixels. Smaller pitch is better, and 0.22 mm to 0.26 mm is the range best suited for normal use.

Another consideration is whether or not to use integral speakers. Dedicated speakers can be more powerful and higher quality than those normally built into monitors, and can be placed to maximize effectiveness. They also take up precious desk space, and unless the sound quality is important, the usual result is to rely on the speakers on the monitor.

Now that you have the basics on choosing your next or first monitor, you might want to check out some of these top manufacturers XEROX or HANNS G.

LCD vs CRT Monitor Comparison

by C. Deveraux
Text and images (scans of census records) are crisper and sharper and the LCD monitor is easier on your eyes. Monitor 's size: Traditional monitors are similar to a TV because both of them have the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube). That is the reason for its bigger size. It therefore occupies more space at the desk. It is also heavy.

However, LCD monitors have thin flat screen. Therefore occupies very less space and is lighter than the CRT monitor. LCD monitors can be fixed even on wall. Display Size: Even though the display size of a CRT monitor is calculated diagonally, the actual display size is smaller. For instance a 17" CRT monitor will actually have a display size of only 16" However, the display size of 17" LCD monitor will have 17" display size. Resolution: CRT monitors can show different resolutions. The resolution can be changed as required. LCD Monitors will have Native Resolution and therefore has a fixed resolution. The best resolution will be the native resolution for that LCD monitor. Viewing Direction: A CRT screen can be viewed from all directions. And from different distance. But LCD monitors cannot be viewed from all directions. LCD monitors can only be viewed straight. Therefore its viewing direction is limited. If viewed from other directions the colors will change and sometimes the vision will be unclear if not viewed straight. But in recent years the new LCD monitors have improved on this defect. Radiation Emission: The radiation emission in CRT monitors are higher. This will not be visible normally but it will affect eyesight and may cause head ache. Long term use of these monitors may even affect the eyes adversely. LCD monitors do not have this type of Radiation emission. Therefore LCD monitors are good for the eyes. Price: CRT monitors are priced very cheap. However they consume more power. LCD monitors are priced higher, but they consume less electricity. Though the electricity consumption is not very significant for personal use, it is very cost efficient in big organizations with many computers.

Monitor

Text and images (scans of census records) are crisper and sharper and the LCD monitor is easier on your eyes. Dot pitch: This is the space between dots and is measured in fractions of a millimeter, e.g., .25mm. The smaller the number the better because the dots are tighter. Many manufacturers don%u2019t even list the dot pitch anymore and you probably won%u2019t be able to tell the difference between a .22 and .27 pitch anyway. So, if you like the monitor then don%u2019t worry about the dot pitch. Passive-matrix vs. active-matrix: Do not buy a passive-matrix monitor. I seriously doubt you%u2019ll even see one for sale, but%u2026just in case. Having said that, there are some new passive-matrix technologies that are worth buying. If the monitor isn't TFT (a type of active-matrix), look for CSTN or DSTN (the latest passive technologies). Brightness: How bright is the picture, expressed as cd/m (I have no idea what the units mean). Look for a brightness level of 200 cd/m or greater. Again, if the monitor specs don%u2019t list this value (not all do) be sure you can get your money back. If the lighting in your office (kitchen table) is subdued the brightness factor won%u2019t be as important as if you have a lot of sunlight streaming in. Don%u2019t pay extra for extra brightness unless you%u2019re worried about bright sunlight. Overall, the contrast ratio will have a bigger impact on picture quality. Resolution: CRT monitors can show different resolutions. The resolution can be changed as required. LCD Monitors will have Native Resolution and therefore has a fixed resolution. The best resolution will be the native resolution for that LCD monitor.

CRT

Speaking of easy on your eyes, there isn't any glare, and the flat screen means no distortion. By the way, even those expensive old-fashioned flat screen CRT monitors have some distortion. Choosing A Camera Battery Is More Important Than You Think

by mg07
Finding the right replacement battery to match your digital camera or equipment can be difficult, so no matter what kind of camera you need; a traditional film camera, an automatic 35 mm camera or a digital camera you need to know not only about the camera, but the camera battery as well.

You want to choose a camera that has a battery that is easy to find and cheap to buy. This is especially important before you buy any camera, whether it is for you or it is a gift.

What Kind Of Batteries Does The Camera Take?

You need to know what kind of camera batteries any camera takes. Does the camera take a brand-specific camera battery or does it take a general size of battery?

For example, a lot of traditional automatic cameras run on AA or AAA batteries. They only need that size. They don't need a specific brand.

These kinds also can be disposable or rechargeable. These batteries are also incredibly common and are sold just about everywhere.

How Easy Is It To Find More Batteries?

Even though your camera might not be brand specific, you still need to know how easy it will be to get replacement camera batteries. You might have to go to specific electronic stores if the camera battery size is rare, or unusual. If this doesn't bother you, then keep in mind whenever you go on a vacation, you need to bring spare camera batteries in case the stores where you are don't carry your camera 's size.

How Expensive Are The Batteries?

Sometimes the camera battery costs more than a camera is worth. Keep in mind how often you are going to use this camera. The more you use your camera, the more you will have to change the battery.

You could opt for rechargeable batteries, but not all sizes of camera batteries will recharge. Most li-ion (lithium-ion) will, though.

If you don't use your camera all that much, then perhaps the camera battery cost will be a moot issue. One good trick to keep you up to date with your camera battery needs, without spending a penny, is to ask for them as a gift on your birthday or gift giving occasions.

Another Good Question To Ask: How Heavy Are the Batteries?

If you plan on doing a lot of travel or on location shooting, a heavy camera battery is a nuisance. You need as light a battery as possible. If you only plan on using the camera around your home or on special occasions and don't need to pack and unpack it, then you do not need to worry about how heavy the battery is.

How Long Can The Camera Go On One Set Of Batteries?

You never really seem to get an answer as to how long a camera lasts on one battery until you actually use it. For this reason, always see if you can get a warranty on your camera.

A lot of the battery 's use depends on what camera functions you use and how often. Most batteries will tell you an estimated time of use, and try to find the maximum time for your buck.

I hope that I helped clear some of the confusion surrounding cameras and batteries. As you can see it is important to also consider the battery within the camera when you are purchasing a camera. If you don't pay attention you could end up with a battery that is very hard to find, is too expensive, or too heavy.

How To Find The Best Digital Camera

by sas_radzi123
After spending sizeable amount of time at the mall figuring out which is the best digital camera for us, we finally have enough money to buy for that eye-popping, 7 mega pixel, 10x digital zoom, potable, candy colored, up to 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card and not to mention very portable, (that will be the envy of almost everyone we know). We march to the mall armed with our life savings and lotsa pride in ourselves, when we pass by a new display - an eight mega pixel, up to 1G expandable memory, with built it mic and stereo surround, video playback capable, with 22 scenic modes kind-of-camera. And we sigh because the producer of this amazing gadget claims that this is the best digital camera yet out in the market. And so as we always want to have the best, armed with our life savings and a few credit cards, we buy the "best digital camera." But then again, that doesn't last too long, after two months or so, there 's another "best digital camera."

And so it confuses us. What makes a digital camera, the best digital camera?

Well, there are certain factors to consider when looking for the "best digital camera" for us.

MEGAPIXELS.*** One of the most important features of digital camera to make it into the best digital camera category is its mega pixel property. The higher the mega pixels the better the actual photograph will come out. A mega pixel is equivalent to one million pixels. The resolution of your image is based upon the mega pixel property of your camera. This means that as you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurry colors.

LCD SIZE. The best digital camera will always have a large LCD to help you frame your subject without having to squint to the viewfinder. This is also helpful when reviewing your images, some cameras enable touch up and editing features with its LCD. A 1.5-inch display is average, a 2-inch LCD display is good, but the best LCD size would be 2.5 inches or higher.

ZOOM. Most digital cameras have both digital and optical zoom. A higher optical zoom is always better than a higher digital zoom. Digital cameras are usually furnished with optical of between 3x to 10x. The better the optical zoom, the higher it climbs up to the best digital camera category.

MEMORY CARD. Always make sure that your memory card is the right one for your digital camera. There are different types of memory card like the xD, SD, Flash card and the likes. And these types of memory cards go with certain types of digital cameras. of course memory storage is also up there in choosing the best digital cameras. Choose the size of memory that you need, if you're a photo junkie, you might need more than 32MB. Memory cards can go up to 1G.

The key point to find the best digital camera is to find one that will best fit you and your lifestyle. Don't just buy the latest or the one that claims they are the best digital cameras out in the market. You wouldn't want to buy a DSLR and use it with your home activities or family outing and have to lug it around?! Or you don't want to buy the latest point and shoot camera when you're serious about being a professional photographer. (Of course, you can use this for starters, but if you're not a novice photographer anymore, you wouldn't want to get this kind of camera.)

Actually, the best digital camera is the one that you will enjoy and use. Not the type that you'll just leave rotting in its box or after a few weeks of usage or so, up there in the attic. ..... don't buy any things when you never compare!!!

Why Choose Satellite TV For Your PC

by Tony Pescatore
With your computer you can watch sports, movies, music, children programs, news plus so many others things.

The reason I say why choose satellite TV for your PC is for many reasons firstly the cost most families that have satellite services spend about $100 per month. That's fine for families who can afford that kind of money even though the ones who can afford it are canceling there satellite services and going the direction of satellite TV for PC or have both.

The benefit is instead of spending about $100 per month just pay a low one off lifetime subscription payment fee depending which program the price normally ranges between" $29 to $99. Then say goodbye to monthly subscription fees. I am not saying it 's better to watch it on your PC then your television because on your home TV that has satellite services with monthly payments when you select a channel you get it immediately but on your computer you have to wait for the buffering before you can watch your channel you selected.

Most programs you do not need to buy extra hardware equipment or a PC TV card because the TV channels are streamed through your Internet connection. Some even work with a 56k connection, the faster your Internet speed the better picture you will get. (A Broadband connection will deliver superior audio and video quality).

Another reason why choose satellite TV for your PC is the kids computer you can turn there room into a satellite television without the monthly fees and keep them happy when there bored or on school holidays. Or why let the kids have the entertainment in there room why not have thousands of channels in your own room so then you can install the software and watch all these new channels in the comfort of your own room.

These are a few things to be aware of there are a lot of imitations of the satellite TV programs, all have there own software with their own promises and prices and make sure they are legal before you commit yourself. Also does it offer excellent transmission and viewing quality? In most cases the programs are legitimate but look up Google for that software just to make sure or see if there is a forum where you can get information about the software.

If you choose the right satellite TV for PC program you can watch live sports for free from all around the world as well free access to virtually every game of every sport you could want to watch. When it comes to music there's enough choices to keep everyone satisfied such as if you love your music you can watch and listen to all the latest music releases, concerts, festivals, and videos from all around the world. Movies you can watch the latest blockbuster titles from all around the world for free and watch movies from another country. There are plenty of channels for the kids to be entertained. Also news, weather, politics, educational programs, your favourite shows plus so much more.

My conclusion on why choose satellite TV for your PC is there is so much that you, your family and friends can watch and you have it for life and most have lifetime updates for free. Just make sure you investigate the program before you decide.

Here Are Some Things That Might Cause Monitor Problems

by vgevge
Recently thin horizontal bands (grey in color) have appeared on my screen. When I'm in Internet Explorer, these bands coincide with the text displayed on the screen (even when i am typing this question). Also, the 'Back' button which is green appears nearly fluorescently green instead of the usual green.

If this problem appears, You can try replacing the monitor data cable. It probably won't amount to anything useful, but it could be the cable. If it isn't, I'd say just get a new monitor because it is definitely a manufacturer hardware problem. Definitely try to test a different monitor out before you buy a new one, because if the other monitor is fine then you've singled out the problem.

The monitor only will run on default mode and it won't let me adjust resolution, and can't play games and can't even download sbc virus protections. I would suggest that you re-install the video driver, or download the most current from dell.com. I am assuming that you are using windows and know how to adjust your desktop settings. If you do not, then right click on your desktop, and select propertys, and then settings. You will then be able to select a higher resolution. If you can not, then, Select advanced, and then the monitor tab.

Verify that the monitor is listed correctly, if not go to the HP website, and look for the correct driver for the monitor, and download and install it. This should open up your choices for resolutions, color depths and refresh rates.

When I first boot the computer the monitor works fine, however, after a short time it goes blank (flickers then goes blank-gray). If I give it a whack or two on the top with the palm of my hand the display reappears and stays on without any further interruption. Is there something loose or stuck closed inside the monitor?

Please don't do anything to your display anymore, you can cause more damage. The issue is that a solder joint has failed on the pc board within the display. Most repair centers, TV or Computer, can repair this type of issue fairly cheaply. I would recommend doing this as soon as you can, since the intermittant failure can cause other issues.

My pc system is 18 months old and has been running perfectly on Windows XP. The last 4 days the monitor has switched itself off and on repeatedly when the system is booted up. The on/off button on the monitor doesn't function; it just lights for 1 second, then the screen flicks on for 1/10 second then it switches off, light on switch included, for another second. It will do this for hours. Nothing seems to help; rebooting (difficult if you can't see the screen), disconnecting power to the monitor. Then, suddenly, the screen appears and the monitor functions perfectly.

Is this a monitor or cpu/system issue? The pc has full service cover but the company who would repair the cpu say its a monitor issue and pass me to the monitor company while the monitor company say its a cpu issue and will not exchange the monitor.

If I understand your description correctly, the monitor will restore its self if you unplug it. That being the case I would suspect that the driver for your video card is suspect. I would try downloading the latest drivers for the mother board, video card, and monitor. If this fails then either the Monitor has its lowest resolution decoder chip failing or the video card is failing. The reason the monitor is flicking off and on is that it is not sure that it is getting a vertical and horizontal signal from the PC. It then goes into shut down.

The only reason this may be an errant diagnosis, is that the led on the front of the monitor, "Light", turns off as well. If it is turning amber or yellow, then this is the correct diagnosis, and the video card is likely the cause. Also be sure that the data cable from the monitor to the PC is fastened tightly to both connectors if you have connectors at both ends, if not at the PC.
